"The World is a mess and I just need to rule it."
I think Dr. Horrible had something there with that idea. The World truly is a mess and if today's headlines are anything to go by, we're all in a whole lotta trouble.
As I sit here writing
(more) I have the television on in the background. I'm usually in the All News All The Time Camp even though I have zero confidence in the media these days.
Media has become the true leaders when it comes to Lying Liars Who Lie.
That mantle used to be worn by politicians. In fact, if my memory serves me correctly, Once Upon A Time, reporters reported. Just the facts Jack. Opinions were meant for the Editorial page, not the Front page.
Media was meant more to keep politicians in line, not, as seems to be all the rage these days, to help the political party of their choice run roughshod over the general population.
And it's not just political news that appears to have crossed the invisible line between fact and fiction, even the local newspapers, at least around my neck of the woods, seem to be staffed with wanna-be novelists rather than journalists.
Recently I was interviewed by two different newspapers, both of which not only misquoted me, but managed to mangle the facts so badly it caused a minor family war as well as turned things around so the bad guy in the piece became the hero.
People's lives and reputations are routinely ruined by some of the talking heads on television set to push their own agendas and newspaper journalists are just as guilty.
I understand now more than ever why today's headlines quickly become tomorrow's trash.
All the news that's fit to print makes for a blank newspaper.(less)
